You Know Where You Can Stick Your Law?

  1. Riding without a helmet is illegal.
  2. Riding three-to-a-bike is illegal.
  3. Riding on a bike under-age is illegal.

Three laws, three people, three offences. Right outside the police station.

None of this is at all unusual. That's why the people here are happy.

So there's been quite a bit of striking recently. Folk are pissed off about something.

We think the bin guys have been on strike cos there was a bit of a build-up the other week and perhaps the electricity guys were having more than their usual fag-breaks cos there wre a lot of power cuts last week - last Saturday especially.

I think the old thing is that they're angry with the government because they're not going to get as big pensions as they hoped.

But that's it, isn't it?

Ageing population = less folk working age = less tax getting paid = less cash.

Start cultivating your own fruit and veg - that's what we reckonz

Guess Their Affiliation

These guys were snapped at the political demonstration last week.

Do you think they are right wing or left wing?

Or is there the chance that couldn't give a fuck?

Wednesday, March 26, 2008

OK, so they had this political action last week. It looked like this:

First they played some Greek music over the loudspeakers.

Then some bloke got up and talked for a bit a got a round of applause. Two more women speakers followed with lots more talking and more rounds of applause and finally the main bloke who had been running around telling everyone what to do got up and spouted for about 15 minutes non stop.

He got a small round of applause but everyone was pretty bored by then.

I think the gist was that the government are bastards and we want more money. Something like that.

Then everyone had coffee, gossipped about who was fucking who, and went home.

Democracy, live.

The Wedding Cake

And tonight, the cake will be...

...worn by the bride!

All dresses for sale in the many wedding shops follow the rules:

  1. Yes - you may see the shoulders
  2. No - you may not see the pussy
  3. No dress has enough material
  4. Or chandelier-style attachments
  5. More is more
  6. And then some

Good To Be Back

It's good to be back in Kalymnos. The hills are suprisingly lush and green. Lush is a relevant term, but still.

And the flowers are awesome and birds are chirping

Its not yet too hot for Nicole but Paul has stopped moaning and shivering. Is 18 degrees the best temperature ever?

Athens Meat Muppets

We are back on Kalymnos after a vacation in New Zealand and some time in Athens. The blog restarts here.

Before we look at Kalymnos again, let us share some Athens with you. In particular - the splendid Athens Central Meat Market.

In these photos we see the Health and Safety officer and the 1-Euro lamb's heads.

Tasty. Get 'em while they're cold.

And, does this one not remind you of the opening to The Muppet Show?

It's time to light the lights.

Like this - then check out web hosting

OK, we're back and our blog restarts here.

Many of you have said that you have enjoyed our adventures in Greece and others have expressed an interest in getting started yourself on the blogging/internet thing.

Blogger - this site - is free to use but it's limited and when you want to build your own sites, as we do, you're going to need to choose from a raft of web hosting providers.

To find out who has the best hosting , you need to do some research but the companies competing for your sign-up will vary in their approach.

Some will offer cheaper deals but less support. Some will offer a more expensive package but with guarantees on how fast they can fix problems. There will almost certainly be problems!

So, to find the best web hosting company, for you - you need to ask what your needs are. If you're trying to make an e-commerce site (a site that sells goods/services) then you need something robust and would probably look to pay more.

If it's a personal site and you can handle your pages disappearing off the net now and again for a couple of days, then a cheaper deal will suit you.

Good luck. The links in this article will take you to Kaushal's top picks for web hosting, a site which has further reviewed you options.
